Former Silver Star Dydek in coma

Margo DydekMargo Dydek, former San Antonio Silver Stars center and the tallest player in WNBA history at 7-2, is in a medically-induced coma after suffering a heart attack last week.

The 37-year-old Dydek, who was nicknamed “Large Marge” by her teammates, is also currently pregnant with her third child.

Dydek was drafted with the first pick in the 1998 WNBA Draft by the Utah Starzz, who moved to San Antonio and became the Silver Stars.

Dydek stayed with San Antonio in 2003-2004 and went on to also play with Connecticut and Los Angeles.

To her teammates, Dydek was known as a jokester, a kind and gentle soul and a humanitarian. We wish her a speedy recovery and our thoughts will be with Dydek and her family through these tough times.
