Ohio State guard David Lighty is in the Alamo City today for a workout with the San Antonio Spurs.
We originally wrote about the Spurs’ interest in Lighty when he was at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.
Lighty, who has played with Evan Turner, Kousta Koufos, Greg Oden and Mike Conley for the Buckeyes, is an athletic slasher and defender. He’s very explosive when attacking the rim, is capable of defending point guards, shooting guards and small forwards, and was used as Ohio State’s defensive stopper. Lighty is also a very good rebounder for his position and size.
As I talked about in the abovementioned post, Lighty is likely an attractive draft candidate for the Spurs due to his ability to defend. He’s also a blue-collar player that fits with the Spurs. However, the Spurs would have to move up in the second round in order to draft him.
In other draft news, Maryland center Jordan Williams also worked out for the Spurs yesterday along with Kyle Singler, Shelvin Mack, JaJuan Johnson and Brad Wanamaker.
