Robinson, Duncan rank among the best

Robinson, Duncan rank among the bestA few of our esteemed sports writers here at Bloguin recently got together to compile a few all-time lists by position over at Hoops Manifesto and a couple of San Antonio Spurs made the cut.

Spurs legend David Robinson ranked as the eighth best center of all-time.

“Before the Twin Towers there was just The Admiral. A 7’1″ almost unstoppable juggernaut, who could hit the mid-range jumper or take you to the hole. Needed Timmy D to make it to the next level with the Spurs, but still an outstanding player in his own right. His career numbers would have been even more impressive if he hadn’t completed his two year Navy commitment.”

Tim Duncan ranked as the best power forward of all time:

“He is not flashy. He is underappreciated. And he always seemed willing to defer. But Duncan quietly dominated and did everything for his team he could do. If a post player ever could have been a point guard in a half court offense, Duncan might be it. He had the complete package: Extremely patient in the post, an incredible passer, a superb defender and a consummate teammate. His titles might be forgotten as time goes by as somewhere between the Shaq/Kobe titles and whatever era comes next. But the Spurs were consistent and Duncan was the head of it.”

Duncan also ranked ninth in the top-10 NBA players of all time as well:

“Few players in NBA history have combined the ability to pass the ball and the brute force to be one of the best post players in the league. Duncan had that deft touch. His game was complete and if he was not 6-foot-10, I am sure he would have found a way to be a great point guard. Duncan had that kind of drive and ability. Not to mention versatility. His quiet leadership is overlooked even in his own time period, but there is no denying his greatness.”

Well there you have it Spurs fans. There’s no denying Duncan should be the best power forward of all-time but how do you feel about Robinson being ranked the eighth best?
