RobinsonIn case you haven’t noticed, Pau Gasol is tearing stuff up in Eurobasket right now. The future Spur… err, current Lakers power forward has led Spain in points at 21.5 per game and is second in rebounds. Spain’s one loss came while Pau wasn’t in the lineup after spraining his ankle.

The LA Times Lakers Blog caught up with Gasol. The 7 foot Spaniard said he thinks having an NBA season would be beneficial to both owners and players and added he hopes getting a deal done is just a matter of time.

Gasol was also asked about new coach, former San Antonio Spurs assistant Mike Brown and his plans to make he and Andrew Bynum’s play similar to Tim Duncan and David Robinson. Gasol said he’s ready for anything Coach Brown throws at him.

“I have played for many different coaches both in the NBA and in Europe, and I have good fundamentals both defensively and offensively. If there’s more activity, there won’t be a problem at all,” Gasol said. “The most important thing though is always involving the whole team and getting as much as possible from every player. We have a powerful interior game, and we need to produce at a high level.”

It’s no secret I think Gasol would be the perfect compliment to Tim Duncan and would also be a good bridge to the next generation of Spurs. This article also proves that Gasol would be the perfect Spur because of his robotic, canned answers to every question.

Anyone who thinks Duncan is boring and scripted should read a Gasol interview every so often.
