During his time with the San Antonio Spurs, George Hill made it a point to recognize the support the people of South Texas gave the Spurs. Hill organized basketball camps in Brownsville, TX in 2010 and 2011 during his time in San Antonio.
But now that he is a member of the Indiana Pacers doesn’t mean he won’t be returning to South Texas.
Hill will be playing in a game for the ABA’s Texas Fuel in October in an exhibition game should the NBA lockout still be in affect and Fuel GM Marlon Minifee is ecstatic.
“We are very pleased to have George as part of the Texas Fuel while the NBA lockout continues,” Texas Fuel general manager Marlon Minifee said. “He is a great player and a terrific young man who has done so much for the community. I know we will miss seeing him play for the San Antonio Spurs, but we are excited about his being able to return home to Indianapolis when the NBA resumes play. For now, he will add so very much to our team with his skills and leadership.”
So if any Spurs fans would like to make the trip to Brownsville and see Hill in action one more time, the game is scheduled for October 16 at 6 p.m. as the Fuel take on the West Texas Whirl Winds. Tickets for the game are $10, and tickets for children 13 years of age and under are $5.
