Fugly

First and foremost, let me state the Celtics won and in the playoffs that is all that matters. But this was the worst NBA game I've ever watched. Before I delve into the ugliness, props to KG for a monster game (28 pts, 8 reb) including a clutch shot that put the Celtics ahead for good 74-72 with 21 seconds left. Sam Cassell had 10 of his 13 points in the final quarter. Perk hauled down 12 big rebounds. And as a team, the Celtics contained the mighty LeBron James (2-18 FG, 10 TOs). Now for the nastiness:

-Ray Allen (0-4 FG) was held scoreless for the first time in 11 years. He was outplayed by Wally Szczerbiak.

-Paul Pierce had 4 pts on 2-14 shooting. (Although he gets credit for taking two charges and playing D on LeBron)

-The Celtics shot 40% and had 21 turnovers. They had scoreless stretches of 4-5 minutes in the first three quarters. They had 28 points combined in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

Let's just say this hideous performance will do nothing to shut up the likes of Dan Shaughnessy, Gerry Callahan and Rob Gill (3 Boston media legends) who have spent the past week blasting the Celtics while claiming they don't have what it takes to win a championship. In my book, all that matters is that the C's are up 1-0.

Oh yeah, KG broke out the Cobra in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately TNT only caught him on camera for about two seconds.
