A Draft Mockery

Because of the Celtics historic run through the playoffs, culminating with the utter dismantling of the vastly overrated Los Angeles Lakers, I've paid exactly zero attention to the draft. Can you blame me? So rather than pretend I actually know something about this incoming class of NBA players, I'm going to steal the work of other people. Here's a list of several mock drafts and the player slated for the Celtics:

ESPN / RealGM /NBC – Courtney Lee – SG/Western Kentucky

SI – Roy Hibbert – C/Georgetown

NBA Draft.net /Yahoo – JJ Hickson – PF/NC. State

HoopsWorld / CBS – Devon Hardin – PF/Cal

Sporting News – Trent Plaisted – PF/C – BYU

Inside Hoops – Richard Hendrix – PF – Alabama

Of all those players, Hibbert is the only one I've seen play. I know his stock has dropped dramatically since last year's draft, but I would love the C's to select this Hoya.

Earlier today, Danny Ainge had this to say about our beloved Mongoose, James Posey:

“We want James back,” Ainge said. “That’s my position. We need to come to an agreement, what is a fair agreement with him, that process will start on July 1 when he can go test the free agent market and see what’s available, just weigh his options and choices because I’m sure he’ll have choices.”

Sounds good but money will certainly talk is this case. I've been saying all along, offer up 3 years at $5.8 million per year, and we should have a deal. Throw in a fourth year (team option) for good measure. Danny also said P.J. Brown is leaning towards retirement.

And there's some breaking news, the Pacers have shipped Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto for T.J. Ford.
