The offseason bonanza continues, and now you can add Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin to the mix of receivers out there for the taking, albeit, for the right price. You can bet the Bidwells are waiting for Jerry Jones to call them up so they can poke his eyes out, like the Lions, and Seahawks have done in previous trades.
Here’s why this deal is unlikely to happen:
The Cowboys have invested the alot for Roy Williams, and I would think the Cardinals would be asking for the same if not more in return to acquire Anquan Boldin. The Bidwells know that Jerry can be ripped off since he set a precedance with the blunderous trade for Galloway, and the highly questionable trade for Roy Williams.
Anquan Boldin is a better receiver than Roy Williams, no question about that. So what would the Cardinals ask Jerry to hand over to get him? Probably something like this: 2nd rounder (2009), 1st rounder (2010), and probably a late round pick or player. This would knock us out of early rounds for two years in total, reminiscent of the time when Jerry traded for Galloway, and that set us back for years. Yes, I would like to get Boldin, but it sure is highly risky considering what we have done so far. Would you trade our 2nd rounder this year, and next years 1st round pick? I think that’s what they would be asking Jerry considering the caliber and numbers Boldin has notched up. Its unlikely this trade happens, but since we’re talking about Jerry, you just never know.
