The Celtics made a big splash by signing Rasheed Wallace, but haven't done squat since. They unsuccessfully tried to lure Grant Hill to Boston, but he'd rather play for a mediocre team than chase a title.
Aside from money spent to match an offer to Glen Davis, the Celtics have $1.3 million and $1.9 million salary slots available. Their most pressing needs remain a backup wing player and backup point guard.
Here's a look at who is still available at those positions (in no particular order):
- Ronald "Flip" Murray
- Stephon Marbury (I'm still holding out hope)
- Von Wafer
- Marquis Daniels
- Fred Jones
- Keith Bogans
- Rodney Carney
- Matt Barnes
- Joey Graham
- Brevin Knight
- Juan Dixon
Underwhelmed? So am I.
Ever since reading the Cavs might be shopping Delonte West, I cannot help but think how much he would help the Celtics.
Yes, I realize it's highly unlikely the Cavs would trade him to one of their top challengers, but since Danny Ainge isn't pulling the trigger on anyone, I'm forced to dream up crazy scenarios.
