Here's what Rondo had to say about his contract status prior to tonight's game:
"I'm focused on Chris Paul," said Rondo. "It's not a big deal right now. I'm focused on the season."
In fact, Rondo said he hasn't spoken to his agent, Bill Duffy, in two days.
"It's not the end of the world," he said. "People act like it's the
end of the world. It's just one year. If we can't come to an agreement
this year hopefully it will be next summer.
"I want to be a Celtic."
He's right. There's always the summer. Waiting will likely cost the Celtics more, because Rondo is going to have a blockbuster season. But I'm confident Danny gets his signature on the dotted line.
Be prepared for this statement about staying a Celtic to be blown out of proportion:
guys that’ve played in the NBA for their entire career. Paul [Pierce] is one of them. You’ve got guys like Ray [Allen] and Kevin [Garnett] that are future Hall of Famers that haven’t been on the same team their
entire careers.
“It’s unlikely [I finish in Boston] but I want to.“
He's right, again.
One other note, Scalabrine (ankle) says he's ready to play tonight.
