The Morning Dump… The Celtics got what they wanted for Xmas

Every
morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here…
highlighting the big storyline.  Because there's nothing quite as
satisfying as a good morning dump.

“Rajon was an attacker,’’ Rivers said. “He was in a great mind-set. He
is rarely emotional, but you could physically see it at the start of
the game – Rajon wanted to win this game.’’

“It definitely was a benchmark game
for us because we’ve talked about this game for the last month or so,’’
said Ray Allen (18 points).

“After
they beat us [83-78 in Boston Nov. 20] we knew we were playing them
here on Christmas Day. Everybody was focused and we took care of the
game and we all feel good about it, and it does propel us going
forward.’’

Globe – Holding Their Place

You know who else really wanted this game? Me. I had to check myself several times during the course of this game, reminding myself it's just a regular season game that won't mean squat come May. But you can't underestimate the emotional and mental value of beating Orlando in Orlando minus Paul Pierce, Marquis Daniels and a 100% Glen Davis.

On page 2, Perk reveals the secret to shutting down Dwight Howard.

"You've got to play him physical. You watch other teams around the league, they pretty much let him set up shop," Boston center Kendrick Perkins said. "You've just got to go in and be prepared to go to war. You've got to fight him first, hit him first.

"He likes to be physical, but he doesn't like anyone to be physical with him."

Associated Press – Game Recap

Doc says the Celtics do not scheme anything special for Howard, adding he's lucky to have solid one-on-one defenders in Perk, Sheed and Glen Davis.
