TMobile has sponsored this RedsArmy.com report from All Star weekend, so that means we are being paid to report from the weekend by TMobile. Legally, I'm supposed to disclose all that up front.
A foot of snow in the Dallas area… mocked perfectly by the boys at The Basketball Jones… took me off my nice, cushy, direct flight from Boston to Dallas on Thursday night and put me on a Friday-long quest to finally get into Big D.
After 3 flights that took me from Boston to Baltimore (where I had this random act of weirdness to entertain me) to St. Louis… I finally made it into Dallas.
12 hours after setting foot inside Logan Airport… that's how I was greeted. It's one of the sweetest sights ever.
I didn't get here in time to get to the rookie-sophomore game. I did, however, manage to get myself into the ESPN party.
Sweet time. Big screens with people playing NBA 2K10… waffles (really)… and free drinks! Hung out with Slam's Lang Whitaker for a while. Met Nate Robinson and Kevin Love… both really cool guys. Kinda weird to be in the same joint as guys like David Lee (not as tall as I thought), Hasheem Thabeet (much taller than I thought), Alonzo Mourning, Ron Harper, Spike Lee, Chris Tucker… and more. Big thanks to Jemele Hill for hooking us up and getting us into the party.
I'm heading out to the Jam Session now. Gonna try to take a lot of pictures and video. I'll be tweeting them as I go, so follow me on Twitter to get the immediate feel of All Star weekend. I'll try to sneak back to my laptop before All Star Saturday to upload the videos.
