Report: Marcus Denmon signs with French team Chalon

The San Antonio Spurs guard corp got a little lighter as reports have surfaced that Marcus Denmon Report: Marcus Denmon signs with French team
Chalon(drafted 59th in the 2012 NBA Draft) has agreed to play overseas in France.

According to French site Sports.fr, Denmon has signed to play with ES Chalon-Sur-Saone in France.

“I am very happy to come to Chalon. This is a great opportunity for me to move from my university to the highest European level, namely the Euroleague. I know I have much development to make in order to improve to make it in the NBA and I’m convinced I made the right choice.”

Overall, this was a smart move for Marcus. As mentioned before, the Spurs are stacked with guards with Tony Parker, Gary Neal, Cory Joseph, Nando De Colo, and Patty Mills. The chances of Denmon getting any playing time would have been slim or he would have been sent to the D-League with the Toros. Moreover, playing overseas will allow him to develop against pro-players (as opposed to D-League level players) and draw in a bigger payday than he would have with in Austin.

At the Summer League, Denmon didn’t impress and averaged 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Let’s hope he does develop his game so he can be another late draft pick steal for San Antonio.

What do you think Spurs fans? Do you like the move Denmon made?
