Bye, bye, Birds. That was Shawn Andrews twitter feed message after being informed the Philadelphia Eagles had released the talented but often injured guard.
It is a bittersweet day as an Eagles fan. A healthy and motivated Andrews is an elite Pro-Bowl caliber player. Sadly, he could not stay healthy and motivation concerns have always been a question for the two time Pro-Bowl star. One year ago the Eagles signed his brother Stacy to a lucrative deal envisioning the next five years dominated with the Andrews brothers controlling the right side of the line. Last season Stacy was unable to bounce back from an ACL injury and was forced to restructure his contract this year to stay in the nest.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the Eagles draft plans. Look for prospect previews starting this Friday!
