It was confirmed, more or less, today that Andrew Luck would be the first round draft pick of the Colts a week from today. This gives the team a week to work on signing him even before the draft commences. While this has been presumed for a long time now, it brings to light a couple of other things. A) Holy crap, look how high he can jump. B) Holy crap, the Colts have absolutely nothing else.
On Sportscenter this morning, Mel Kiper was asked what the Colts’ other needs were, and Kiper literally laughed aloud. (I’m trying to get “laugh aloud” to be a thing, instead of “laugh out loud”). What could they possibly draft? They have one geriatric receiver in Reggie Wayne, they have Donald freaking Brown as a starting running back, they are thin on the O-Line, the defense is switching to a 3-4, so they need personnel for that, the secondary has been abysmal since the dawn of time, and oh yeah, there is currently only one quarterback on the roster.
The Colts could draft literally anyone in the second round, and it likely would be to the benefit of the team. So who will it be? I have no idea. But good luck Mr. Luck, and welcome to Indianapolis.
