Sergio Aguero would be suspended in the NFL

As I’m sure you heard, there was a thrilling end to the English Premier League season yesterday. Manchester City was down 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers as they headed into extra time. There were to be 5 minutes of extra time thanks to QPR’s Joey Barton going insane for a solid 5 minutes as he was ejected for head butting City’s Carlos Tevez, then taking his spikes to the back of Aguero’s leg before he was physically removed from the pitch.

Still, there were only 5 minutes for City to score, and they had only put one in over the course of 90 minutes before that point. Still, Edin Dzeko nodded one home to draw the sides level. They needed one more to win the game and the Premiership. What the video above shows is Aguero doing just that as time expired.

Could you imagine something like that happening in the NFL, for example? Someone so excited, so thrilled that he rips his shirt of and runs around the field? How awful! That raw emotion, the unchecked exuberance? If the EPL was regulated like the NFL, you better believe QPR would have been rewarded with a penalty kick. Act like you’ve been there before, Aguero, even if City hasn’t been there for 44 years.

Thank goodness for the NFL, taking the emotion out of the game. It makes for a much better product.
