I am sorry to do this for those of you who aren’t actually fans of soccer or international soccer. The UEFA Europa League is the competition that Rosenborg is playing in this year, the second level continental European tournament. It features a lot more teams, and because of this, there is a greater discrepancy of skill, resources and enthusiasm. To wit, take a look at the home and away highlight videos of the match between international powerhouse FC Twente from the Netherlands and UE Santa Coloma, from Andorra. This is a more lopsided affair than a 1-16 match in the NCAA tournament, and its played at home and away, which means you get well attended affairs in beautiful stadiums:

And also some well attended matches, though in much smaller venues, like, say, in the middle of Andorra:

Hard to believe these are the same two teams, playing the same sport in the same tournament, isn’t it? Of course, these stadiums are both nicer than the stadium Shirak played Rudar Pljevlja. As if I had to tell you, this was played in Armenia (where Shirak is from… Rudar in Montenegrin)

I don’t know why, but this type of stuff is completely amazing to me.
