My greatest concern with this food, if you were listening to the most recent episode of Rhino and Compass Radio, was the chicken. No seasoning? No breading? No flavor! Well, fortunately, I watch Restaurant Impossible, and I know that you NEED to add a little salt to your chicken, so it isn’t drab and tasteless. I wet crazy, and since this is an Asian chicken salad, I added some five spice to it as well. Those chicken strips? Amazing. I ate a couple as is, right off the pan, and they were transcendent. Problem solved.
The salad itself was simple. Cabbage, broccoli, snow peas and green onion. Nothing terribly exciting. The dressing for it was the place to be though. It was sort of a honey vinaigrette, with some undertones of sesame in it. The flavors really came together well, and they really came through with the cabbage. The other vegetables held too much of their own flavor and overcame the dressing flavor.
The same could be said for the chicken. Seriously, salt your chicken before you cook it.
