It was really tough to screw this up. Turkey, mozzarella, pepperoni, onions and tomatoes and marinara sauce on a hoagie (bratwurst, actually) bun, thrown under a broiler. I didn’t have to manufacture any flavors, which meant that I didn’t have to worry about making it taste right. The only problem I had here was burning myself a little bit with pepperoni grease, and then leaving the food under the broiler a hair too long, which charred the bun.
The vegetables, just orange bell pepper and zucchini, were the areas to add flavor. I added some lemon juice and all sorts of Italian herbs, like basil, oregano and dill, plus a little garlic salt. The veggies were also tasty. This was a culinary win, pretty much because it was so easy.
