State of the Blog Address

badgeGood afternoon, and thank you for being here. I would like to begin by thanking WordPress, for the blogging platform, GoDaddy for site hosting, Yardbarker for membership in your network and of course you, the readers for electing to read this website.

Ladies and gentlemen, the state of the blog is strong. Readership is consistent, production of posts have been timely, and we are constantly incorporating innovative ways to disseminate Rhino and Compass media.

Of course, we are nothing without topics for discussion. I am happy to report that all sports that are covered by this website are in a state of labor peace. The NHL has ended their lockout as of last month, becoming the last major sports league to reach a collective bargaining agreement. Of course, it appears that the Minnesota WIld are unaware that they are already 1/5th of the way through a real live NHL season.

One thing that this site will attempt to rectify over the next year will be the misguided fan ideologies found across local fan bases. The opinion that Minnesota is already an elite program for college football and basketball could prove ruinous to their long term hopes, forcing out excellent coaches in Jerry Kill and Tubby Smith who are properly, if slowly, building Minnesota to better programs. Historically, even calling Minnesota a “fair” program would have been remarkably generous. The expectation of being in the upper crust is unfounded and dangerous.

Additionally, the thought that Joe Mauer is somehow not living up to his potential may be a factor in why players are unwilling to sign here. Why take money if it will end only in abuse from the fans? Obviously, this is a small factory, but Minnesotans need to recognize that Joe Mauer, neither with his play or salary, are factors in the team’s precipitous descent into oblivion. Fortunately, the mire that the team finds itself in will likely spell the end of Ron Gardenhire’s tenure in Minnesota, inevitably demonstrating how little he had to do with the team’s success in the past decade.

I am committed to introducing my fandom to the populace, introducing readers to teams they may not otherwise be familiar with. I will continue to open a window into the world of Purdue pessimism. If things look too good for the Boilermakers, things are about to fall apart. I want the world to recognize that angst. I will also continue to bring you news from the world of international soccer, and the teams I follow most closely, Blackburn Rovers, who have unfortunately been relegated, and Rosenborg who continues to shine as a bright star in Norway.

There is great hope, despite the tone of this message. Consider the Indianapolis Colts and the young roster that has already been to the playoffs. Andrew Luck has accepted the mantle of franchise quarterback, and promises to bring joy to fans everywhere, from Minnesota to Indiana, and everywhere that The Rhino and Compass reaches.

Thank you for your time and your attention, whether you are here for sports opinion and commentary, or just to find out what’s on the menu. Good evening and God bless
