The large gentleman carrying the distraught woman here is former New England Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi who was at this year’s Boston marathon helping run a charity and enjoying the day. For reasons still undetermined, someone then decided to try and kill as many people as possible.
This is the closest I can legitimately come to claiming some affiliation with Boston or any of the victims. Next up would be wondering if Cliff Clavin was OK. At the same time, this is a scary happenstance. A large crowd, enjoying the day, enjoying sports without a care in the world, suddenly with their lives turned upside down. This time it was Boston, but next time it could be anywhere, or anyone congregating somewhere. That’s scary. That’s disruptive to everyone’s life. Essentially, that is terrorism. 9/11 was unspeakable violence, but only a few of us fly. Everyone that reads this site, I assume, has been to a sporting event, or a concert or waited in a particularly long line.
But that’s not the correct mentality. If we spend too much time worrying about what might happen, then we become victims ourselves. There were enough victims already today. Leave it to our public servants to worry about our safety in the future. What we need to do now is try to figure out how to help those affected in Boston.
