Basically you guys, I made Hamburger Helper without the box. I browned my ground beef (the leftover meatloaf mix actually, so not just beef) and cooked some potatoes and corn in water with the beef. You know just like hamburger helper. I had some ranch in there as well, which was supposed to provide some additional flavor, but as it turned out, I had too much water in the pot, and the ranch flavor didn’t translate as well as I would have liked. Leftovers will come with a cheese topping, I think.
I think the big thing with this is to cut down on the water if you can, so long as the potatoes are still covered. The creamy sauce at the end is just milk and flour. Throw some of your favorite spices in with that mix at the end to make for a flavored sauce even if the meat and potatoes are a little one note. I hate it when I make things that are one note.
