Thursday night, a 3 hour rain delay led to the Cardinals and Royals playing into the wee hours of Friday morning. Because of the rules of the game and the way things had gone down to that point, they couldn’t just call the game (Kansas City took the lead and Saint Louis hadn’t had a chance to bat, and if they postponed, KC’s work would have been for naught). Agree with the rule or not, it’s pretty crazy that they followed through and played into the early morning, just to finish it off in a manner that was, admittedly, fair.
But if this is how stadiums look at 3AM, maybe the Marlins are playing some really late nights.
