Henry Melton has begun his free agency tour and has yet to visit Dallas, and there are several rumors that say Melton is still in serious talks with the Seahawks.

The Vikings are the other darkhorse in the Melton sweepstakes and have done some maneuvering with their cap, perhaps to throw more money at Melton. They are reportedly still in contact with Melton as well.

Contrary to reports on Saturday night that had Henry Melton “finalizing a deal’’ while visiting the Seahawks, the prized free-agent defensive tackle has returned to DFW and the Dallas Cowboys remain among his suitors as they plan a visit at Valley Ranch on Monday.

If I’m Melton, I’m looking for more money that what the Redskins gave Jason Hatcher just days ago. Hatcher’s sacks will almost likely be diluted with him going to a 3-4 team; however, Melton has youth and will get to the QB from the 3-tech position, so the money he’s looking for should be on par with Hatcher if not more. Melton’s ACL injury and current recovery are all that remain as question marks at this point, and possibly a league suspension from the bar brawl, although the lawsuit seems frivolous at this point.
I wonder how many Aaron Donald fanatics are secretly hoping Melton gets snatched up, in order to keep the high need in place for a 3-tech? For that faction, there are no guarentees either way, and its all a crapshoot. How will Melton’s knee hold up, is he in shape, can Rod Marinelli get him back to Pro Bowl form? For Donald: he’s a rookie, can he continue his success at the next level? Who knows.
One thing is certain, Jerry Jones and Co. need to get some more pressure guys and he needs them now. Melton’s situation remains fluid and as a result, so are the Cowboys’ draft needs.
