Cowboys Dismantle Redskins; Hosting Lions in Wild Card

Tony Romo

Everyone wondered if the Cowboys were going to rest their starters this week or at least through the first half of the game. Jason Garrett had other plans, and we saw the starters play most of the game.

In essence, the Cowboys were out there sharpening iron with iron and the Redskins got blown out as a result. We came out and made a statement from whistle-to-whistle; moreover, we are taking some serious momentum as we host the Lions next Sunday for Wild Card weekend.

Kickoff for next Sunday: 3:40 CST on FOX

Here are my thoughts on the game:

DeMarco Murray cements himself as the best running back in the league and clinched his rushing title with icing on the cake after he broke Emmitt’s single season rushing record in franchise history. Someone is going to give Murray a raise in the offseason, but will it be the Cowboys though?

DeMarcus Lawrence saw some snaps at left end and looked like the player we had hoped he’d be – very disruptive! With Selvie likely moving onward at season’s end, and with Spencer possibly doing the same, we could see Lawrence bounce to LE permanently. He was effective coming off the edge from the LE spot. I wonder if we see him more from there in the playoffs. Keep an eye on that.

Dez Bryant is impossible to cover without safety help, the guy has raised his game to another level. I’m looking forward to seeing what Dez has in him for the playoffs.

Tyrone Crawford is looking like Hatcher from the previous season, and that is very good for us as we make our playoff run next Sunday. He’s been playing solid and creating some havoc in the backfield.

Henry Melton was a non-factor and limped off the field with an injury. He’s gone.

Bruce Carter stepped up and had one of his crazy MVP games today. 11 tackles and 2 INTs led the team. We may need him to duplicate that performance if we are without the services of Hitchens next week.

— We need Rolando McClain next week and we need his physical play.

The offensive line kept Romo off the field for most of the game. We’ll need them to beat the Lions defensive lineman next week as well. We’re going to see what that Pro Bowl line can do in the post season.

— The last time the Cowboys finished the season 12-4 was in 1995 and we won the Super Bowl.

Anthony Spencer has regained flashes of his former self at just the right time. Spencer has put in some solid games the past weeks and today he looked good again. Let’s keep it up Spence!

The Redskins suck. Pierre Garcon is a dirty bitch.

Terrance Williams could be back. He was MIA through a good part of the second half of the season, but TWill has made it known that he is still capable of making big plays. Williams will need some of the same in the post season.

Beas Nuts! Beasley is a first down waiting to happen. He’s really become a nice target for Romo and I expect more of the same.

Undefeated on the road. The Cowboys finished the regular season 8-0 on the road and this bodes well for the playoffs. We may need to call upon this streak to continue if we are able to advance to the next rounds!

The Cowboys will host a pretty solid Lions team that has historically played the Cowboys tough in the regular season and in the post season. These 2014 Cowboys will need to play their brand of football and make the Lions adjust to our gameplan.

We’ll see how the coaching staff defends Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate; both players pose some matchup nightmares. Our secondary will need to play a good game, and our defense will need to force Matthew Stafford into some bad throws.

It feels great to be a Cowboys fan right now! Let’s go Dallas! #FinishTheFight
