The Cowboys have been busy with roster moves ahead of Tony Romo’s return to the gridiron. The Cowboys have announced they have released Brandon Weeden, Christine Michael, and Corey White.

Moving forward, we’ll see Matt Cassel as the primary backup to Romo. Cassel is signed for this season and will become a free agent at the end of the season. It’ll be interesting to see what the Cowboys do with the backup QB position. Will they give Cassel another contract in hopes he can really immerse himself into the full playbook and scheme or will the Cowboys go another direction in free agency or the draft. The wild card could be Kellen Moore, but who knows at this point.

The Corey White release is a bit surprising and I’m sure we’ll here more news on that front. We know he was deactivated the last two weeks and then the subsequent release today. With Mo Claiborne out for an undetermined time, we’ll probably see the Cowboys add another CB soon.

Christine Michael was zero impact when we traded for him and now it looks like the Cowboys will elevate Rodney Smith and Trey Williams into the lineup, unless the Cowboys add another RB off the street.

At the end of the day, the RB position has haunted the Cowboys and will continue to haunt them the remainder of the season. They messed up and mis-evaluated their planning at the position.
