Two years ago, thieves broke into the Yogi Berra Museum in Montclair, New Jersey, and walked away with “several” of the ten World Series rings on display.
Following the robbery, one of the rings was found outside of the museum and returned to the Hall of Fame catcher’s family by the FBI.
“These are important parts of Yankee lore and they are his,” memorabilia dealer Pete Siegel said following the break-in.
Monday, Berra’s 1956 10k gold championship ring (complete with diamond) sold in Steiner Sports’ last auction of the year. It went for a cool $34,243.
