A group of citizens from Sarasota have started an online petition to try to block the public financing of a new spring training facility for the Red Sox. So far there are only 12 signatures on the petition. The city’s proposal calls for an increase in the tourist tax to help pay for the ballpark so it would be Sox fans picking up the tab, not the local residents.
