In the game Bobby Bonds and Don Baylor would hit home runs to back winning pitcher Paul Hartzell. 1977 was the year when Angels owner Gene Autry would sign Don Baylor, Bobby Grich and Joe Rudi … for $1,080,660. The Angels would go on to finish 5th in the AL West that year with a 74-88 record. In 1979 Baylor and Grich would lead the Angels to their first ever AL West title. Grich would hit 30 home runs and drive in 101 that year while Baylor hit 36 home runs with 139 RBI’s earning him the American League MVP.
