Coral's Corner: Angels PiNK Clothing Line

While the Angels may be off to a slow start this season there are still many things for Angels fans, particularly lady fans, to be very excited about. Over the past few years Victoria’s Secret PiNK,line of casual clothes has been working to create a partnership with Major League Baseball to create a line of apparel. Last season a few teams were released, mostly focusing on the Eastern Division clubs. But this year Halos fans who have been seeking to sport cute apparel to show their fandom should rejoice as PiNK has finally come to an agreement with the Angels’- and their clothing line is now available in stores.

While the clothes are adorable, there is a flaw with the line, it isn’t available in all stores. In Orange County there are only a few stores selling the line (a complete list is available at http://www.vspink.com/images/style_guide/mlb_collection/mlb_composite.pdf). But, many of the stores are out of stock in particular sizes, and are only expecting one more shipment before (as the saleswoman hinted at a new line) the next sport arrives. However, the line is available online at the Victoria’s Secret PiNK shop online, though unfortunately a few pieces are missing and can be found exclusively in stores. While the PiNK line usually has fairly standard sizes, I decided to brave the South Coast Plaza store in order to see how the clothes fit as a whole for those of you hoping to buy online, and I’m glad that I did.
The line was just as cute in person as it was online, which wasn’t the least bit surprising. Keeping true to the PiNK line the clothes are casual, comfortable, form fitting, and cute. Perhaps the best part of the line is that it remains largely in the team color scheme- meaning that in order to wear women’s clothes that fit properly fans do not have to wear pink the color, just PiNK the line.
Online only one hat is offered, an Angels red cap, in stores however, there are two (the other one is white and pink). The hats have an Angels’ A on the front with rhinestones around it. The back of the hat features the PiNK dog (the lines logo). Perhaps the best feature of the hat is the adjustable back. While the official MLB hats are fun because that is what the players wear, many ladies will recognize that it is difficult to wear their hair up during a hot summer day game without an adjustable back. At $22.50 this is a reasonably priced hat, and since it is one size fits all a great gift for those who want to share something cute with a fellow Angels’ fan.
As I mentioned earlier, the majority of the PiNK line runs the same size throughout, but (online) buyers beware, this is not the case for the MLB line. The “homeplate hoodie” is available both online and in stores- a dark blue background with red and white writing including “Go  Angels” on the back and rhinestone hearts scattered about- and is a personal favorite. It is a pullover hoodie, and runs smaller than the regular PiNK line hoodies, and have a slimmer fit overall. Despite this, I think that it is a must have, but good luck finding your size in stores because this one is going fast (I picked up the last Medium at the South Coast Plaza store, leaving only Smalls and Extra-Smalls).
The shirts are perhaps the cutest and most practical part of the line, since it is often too warm during game time to wear a hoodie. In stores and online there is a deep v neck shirt in a maroon color that is covered in rhinestones, however, this is (obviously) not in team colors and is a little pricey for a t-shirt. I purchased the dark blue tank top with a racer back, and rhinestones, these tend to run a size smaller than the VS t-shirts (so if you are normally a Medium, I’d suggest ordering a large). The other t-shirts are cute but, in my opinion not “must haves”.
The final pieces of the line are the pants. While I’m normally a huge proponent of the PiNK line of sweats I found that these simply fit… odd. The signature fit sweats are cute on the shelves but have an odd shape (unlike the normal line) once you get them on. The yoga pants are very cute with dark blue pant legs and a red waist band, however they are flawed in that they say “PINK” across the back instead of “Angels” moreover, they are much longer than the normal line is.
While the line as a whole is very cute, I’d suggest going to the store before buying them to see how the clothes fit if you have the chance. If not, remember that most of the tops are running small (the sales girls said that their pieces had shrunk and these should only be washed in cold water), and that the pants are running long. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the line, and can’t wait to see what they come up with over the course of the season.
