June 10, 2005 at Shea Stadium in New York the Angels beat the Mets 12-2. Bartolo Colon would go 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for his 8th win. The Angels would get home runs from Darin Erstad (1 run, 2 RBI’s); Steve Finley (3-4, 4 RBI’s and Orlando Cabrera (2 runs, 3 RBI’s). Orlando Cabrera would sign a free agent contract with the Angels at the beginning of 2005, replacing David Eckstein as the Angels shortstop. In 2006 Cabrera had a 63 game streak of reaching base, which ranked in the top five all-time in baseball, and would have 45 doubles which ranks 3rd in an Angels single season only bettered by Garret Anderson twice. In 2007, Cabrera would have highs playing for the Angels in average (.301); hits (192); runs (101) and RBI’s (86). Also in 2007, Cabrera would lead shortstops in fielding percentage at .983 and have a league-low 11 errors, winning the American League Gold Glove at shortstop that year. Cabrera was traded after the 2007 season to the Chicago White Sox for Jon Garland.
