Salt Lake
Box Score

The Good: Sean O’Sullivan went a solid seven innings, giving up just one run on six hits, while striking out three. Sully did give up four walks, but lowered his ERA on the season to 4.71. 2B Nate Sutton hit his first home run of the season, going 1-3 on the night with a walk.

The Bad: The Salt Lake Bees had just one run on five hits on the night, but what’s worse is they struck out as a team 15 times. Bourjos, Aldridge, Wood and Trumbo each struck out three times.

Noteworthy: In two games, over nine at bats, Brandon Wood has just one hit and four strikeouts.

Arkansas Travelers
Box Score
The Good: Tim Kiely went a solid six innings in a losing cause, giving up just one run on four hits on the night. Jeremy Moore. He was the only batter in the lineup to get a knock on the night, going 1-2.

The Bad: The Travelers offense. Just one hit on the night, which was a single.

Noteworthy: The Travelers offense needs some more offense. Robert Lopez was a start, but perhaps it’s time to get a spark plug atop the lineup and promote Alexi Amarista and have Mike Trout skip a level to take the centerfield spot. As a team the Travelers are hitting just .239 and sporting impotent slugging pct. of .349.

Cedar Rapids Kernels
Box Score
The Good: Mike Trout just continues to shine in the Midwest League. Trout went 4-5 on the night with an RBI, raising his batting average to .376. One has to wonder how much longer Mike Trout will remain with the Cedar Rapids Kernels, as this teenager has been a man among the boys this season in the MWL. Matt Long had three hits on the night and Casey Haerther went 2-5 with a home run, his fourth on the season.

The Bad: Ariel Pena (3.65) went six innings and gave up four runs on seven hits, though he did strike out six. Jon Bachanov allowed three runs on four hits in an inning and 2/3.

Noteworthy: Tyler Skaggs takes his 4-2 record and 2.51 ERA to the hill tonight against the Lansing Lugnuts. For more on Tyler Skaggs, see our prospect profile here.
