Raves:
Callaspo has a solid hitting streak going.
Matsui is finally hitting for a prolonged stretch for the first time since June.
Kohn and Walden get some more work in, although Walden gave up a run.
Bourjos is now starting to seem more comfortable at the plate.
Rants:
The Angels are now threatening to equal their putrid 1999 offensive performance, on pace for barely over 700 runs and a sub .720 OPS.
Abreu looks like warmed over dinner at the plate.
Aybar needs to STOP uppercutting. SWING LEVEL Aybar! Like you did on the 6th inning double.
Even though Aybar made a nice running catch, he forgets there are only 2 outs????????
Sad that Fuentes is reduced to 9th inning mop up work thanks to this putrid hitting.
Santana still doesn’t seem to be able to get to the next level. Patience has to be running thin with him, since he’s 27 now.
He’s still never had back-to-back solid seasons at the MLB level.
I hope the Angels do trade 2 or 3 of their players BEFORE September 1. The preparing for taking back the AL West in 2011 needs to start NOW!
Last night was a pathetic reminder of a team that seemingly is just going through the motions, with a few exceptions!
