Arkansas – Off
Inland Empire – The 66ers won 7-3, back to back W’s for the team. Pitcher John Hellweg finally seems to be putting his talent together in High-A ball. Tonight he went 6 innings, giving up just 2 earned runs, striking out 8 and walking none. The 6’9″ pitcher is 22 years of age and has a 1.28 ERA in his last 4 starts with 29 strike outs and only 8 walks. Kole Calhoun was 2-4 with a double and his 18th home run. David Harris was 3-4 with a triple, and Jose Jimenez went 2-3 with a double.
Cedar Rapids – The Kernals won 3-1, snapping a 4 game skid. Donn Roach pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief. Daniel Tillman picked up his 10th save and lowered his ERA to 2.13. Catcher Francis Larson went 2-4 with a double. Randal Grichuk finally checked in, going 1-3 with a double, putting his average slightly above the Mendoza line at .203.
Orem – The Owlz won 8-7, putting them in a tie for first place at 8-2. Daniel Vargas-Vila went 5 innings giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 7. Jerod Yakubik and Taylor Lindsey were both 2-5. For Lindsey, he raises his average to .367, and puts him in a good spot to possibly skip Cedar Rapids next year, and head straight for IE. Chris Giovinazzo and Ryan Jones chipped in the only home runs of the game. For Giovinazzo that is his 1st and for Jones, his 8th.
AZL Angels – Pretty boring game for the AZL Angels as they lost 4-2. Jackson Whitley was 1-3 with a double, as he continues to rip the cover off of the ball lately. Robert Fish, rehabbing a hamsting issue, tossed 2 great innings striking out 3 and walking none. You should see him back in Arkansas real soon.
DSL Angels – The DSL Angels won 7-2. 20 year old Gabriel Perez improved to 9-1 with a 1.70 ERA after going 5 innings 1 run, 8 strike outs and 2 walks. Orlando Hernandez and Jose Reyes lowered their ERA to 1.64 and 1.23 respectively.
