The Cabrera-Trout MVP debate is one of the hottest topics in baseball leading up to next Thursday’s announcement which you can view live on the MLB Network at 6:00 p.m. ET. Former Angels Director of Scouting (now assistant to the Red Sox GM) gave his take on the MVP here.
Check out the AL MVP debate from last night’s “Clubhouse Confidential” with Brian Kenny on MLB Network. In this segment (below), Brian measures both Miguel Cabrera and Mike Trout’s numbers for the season, accounting for their value at the plate, on the base paths and in the field. Brian concludes that the numbers favor Mike Trout as the stronger MVP candidate.

In this next clip (below), Kenny is joined by SB Nation’s Rob Neyer and MLB Network analyst Larry Bowa to discuss the AL MVP race. Neyer and Kenny argue why they think Mike Trout should be the AL MVP, while Larry Bowa argues why he believes Cabrera should be the AL MVP.

Editors Note: I believe at worst we should see a tie for the AL MVP much like when Willie Stargell and Keith Hernandez tied for the NL MVP in 1979. Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera had the type of season that baseball viewers will NEVER forget. Don’t single out one guy for the award because he accomplished a feat that hadn’t been done since 1967.
