Peter Bourjos Player Profile & Projections

Peter Bourjos Player Profile & Projections

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer —

2013 Outlook: Bourjos has been a very polarizing figure among Angels fans. Some point to his 2012 season as an indicator of his true offensive performance level while others look at his 2011 breakout season and feel that reflects his true aptitude.

There are a couple of reasons why you should consider the latter as a more likely indicator of Peter’s future performance: 1) Bourjos’ Minor League career points to a player who is an above average hitter and on base guy with some extra-base hitting ability and pop and 2) Peter’s BABIP in 2012 (.274) was well beneath his career average (.301).
Peter Bourjos has consistently displayed an Isolated Power (ISO) number in the .150-.160 range which reflects his ability to consistently hit doubles, triples, and home runs. Look to Peter to provide some of the most elite defense of any player in the game, combined with some dynamic offensive tools and speed. He will strike out a lot but I think Bourjos will shine in 2013 and beyond.
