Early Life

Kent Bazemore was born on July 1, 1989 in Kelford, North Carolina. He attended Bertie High in Windsore Nort Carolina before committing to Old Dominion University.

Collegiate Career

After redshirting his freshman season, Bazemore was a started during his sophomore season and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association’s All-Defensive team while Old Dominion were the regular season and CAA tournament champions. Old Dominion won the CAA tournament again during Bazemore’s junior season and lost in the NCAA Tournament to the eventual runner-up Butler Bulldogs 60-58. Bazemore was the CAA Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-CAA 2nd Team. Bazemore was also awarded the Lefty Driesell award that season which is given to the nation’s top defensive player each season.

Professional Career

Bazemore was signed by the Warriors as an undrafted Free Agent on July 26, 2012. He is a 6’5 G that can defend the PG position as well as most wings due to his freakish 6’11.5 wingspan. He is an undeveloped player offensively which is why he spent most of his rookie season either celebrating his teammates on the bench AKA “BAZEMORING” or playing with the Warriors D-League team.

Bazemore appeared in 61 minutes with the Warriors during the regular season notching a total of 267 minutes and 123 points in total. During the Warriors memorable Playoff run he played in only 16 minutes in 9 games, but for one special moment he was the focus of the rest of his teams celebration for a moment. With 3.9 seconds left in Game 1 of the 2nd OT of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs, Bazemore scored his lone 2 points of the Playoffs on an up-and-under layup assisted by Stephen Curry to give the Warriors a 127-126 point lead before a Manu Ginobili 3 gave the Spurs the victory.

Recently Bazemore has shown vast signs of improvement leading the Warriors Summer League team to the first ever Summer League Championship in Las Vegas. Along with the title, Bazemore was named MVP of the tournament averaging 18.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 7 games surprising many and proving himself to be worthy of minutes once the 2013-2014 season begins. Time will only tell how good of a player Kent Bazemore may be.

Bazemore was recently ranked 332 on ESPN’s NBARank jumping 167 spots from 499 entering his rookie season
