Two summers ago, our Poor Man’s Commish made a bold prediction: that Kyrie Irving would become the next NBA superstar. Well, he didn’t count on the ascent of his hometown Steph so quickly.

Tonight will feature these two budding stars, one representing Nike, the other Under Armour. One will be looking to dig their team out of a hole. The other will look to continue to build momentum from an amazing triple-double performance.

The Warriors will look to push their winning streak to five today against the Cavs, who have not played like some expected them to.

The Dubs sit at an 18-13 record, which isn’t bad but after the 8-3 start they had, fans have expected them to have a record of 20-11 or so, although the team has had to play more than ten games without Iguodala earlier in the season, which hurt on defense and playmaking.

The Warriors are 3-1 against the East on the season. Curry has shot just about 32% for the last four games, but he has gotten 44 assists and 28 rebounds in those games. He just finds a way to be an impact.

Thompson is getting back to his normal self, scoring 21 against the Phoenix Suns while he shot 9-for-11 from the field. The Warriors have won five straight against the Cavaliers, while outscoring them by an average of 12.2 points in each meeting.

The Cavaliers are having problems of their own, mainly in the locker room. They have suspended Andrew Bynum indefinitely earlier this week.

They are obviously going through a lot, with the bad chemistry in the locker room besides the Bynum issue, they are really under-performing. The Cavaliers spent a lot of money to bring in Bynum and now his Cavalier career is coming to a close before the 30th game of the season.

The two-year, $24 million contract that only lasted 29 games, has become a waste for the Cavaliers. Tonight’s matchup against the Warriors was supposed to be ‘Andrew Bynum Fathead Giveaway’ night, to boot.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are trying to avoid losing their 5th straight.

This game shouldn’t be too difficult for a Warriors team that seems to be hitting a groove, but they can’t take the Cavaliers lightly; they have to treat it like a normal game. They should get the job done here.
