Seth Curry was announced as a participant in the 2014 D-League All-Star Game to be held during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend coming up on February 14th through 16th. He will join teammate Hilton Armstrong and former teammate Dewayne Dedmon, who was recently called up by the Philadelphia 76ers.

On Saturday night, LetsGoWarriors attended the Santa Cruz Warriors game at Kaiser Permanente Arena and asked Curry about his plans for All-Star Weekend, prior to his selection, and knowing that his big brother Stephen Curry would be attending as an NBA All-Star starter.

“I’m gonna be there either way,” the younger Curry said. With the D-League All-Star announcement, he now has an all-expenses paid trip.

At the Golden State Warriors practice yesterday, Stephen spoke about his brother’s accomplishment.

“It’s huge. He’s been at Santa Cruz developing his game, working on it every single day, making great use of the experience, playing heavy minutes,” Steph said, “I think between that and his opportunity to go to Memphis for a couple weeks, get a taste of that system definitely makes him a better player. I don’t know how many guys make the team, but to be selected in that group is huge and hopefully he can build on it, go on and finish out the year, hopefully get it back to this level soon as possible.”

Seth himself feels that he’s transitioned well from a reputation as a shooter at Duke University to that of point guard distributor for the Warriors as well as the Memphis Grizzlies.

“I think I’ve improved, just learning, getting more reps at point guard. I feel like I’ve done a better job of every game just working on the defensive end, just trying to guard the ball which is different than earlier in the season,” Seth said, “I think I’ve shown that I can get my teammates good shots every single game. Every time I come out, I try to make it easier on my teammates and score whenever I can.”

Seth has Steph’s full confidence in terms of playing the point guard position, especially now that Seth has overcome his leg injury coming out of Duke last summer, which left him undrafted.

“He’s healthy but a lot of questions were just about can he play the point guard position at his size and everybody knows he can shoot, but if you watched him play at Duke, he can run the pick-and-roll, he can get other guys involved on the floor,” Steph said, “but his injury kind of overshawdowed all that.”

Steph keeps a watchful on his little brother catching every game that he can, as Seth already knows:

“I watch most of them, if we’re not playing,” Steph said, “but kind of act like my dad how he deals with me. If my brother asks a question or something, I’ll answer, but I’m not gonna overkill with pointer after pointer after pointer. He’s a smart guy. He watches his own film, is a student of the game. At some point, you don’t want too many voices in the head. I just kind of be around if he needs something, but let him go through the experience and just encourage him just to keep doing what he’s doing.”
