THE PALACE OF AUBURN HILLS, DETROIT, MI — The Golden State Warriors gave up 63 points to the Detroit Pistons in the first half, but brought out their trademark defense and held the Pistons to just 34 points in the second half for a 104-98 triumph.

PRE-GAME
David Lee missed another start due to a stomach flu and did not travel with the team. He posted a picture of himself with an IV on Instagram, after the win at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
Michigan State University head coach Tom Izzo was courtside to support his former star, Draymond Green. Spartans alumnae showed a lot of love for Draymond tonight and he showed it back
IN-GAME
Klay Thompson had said all season that one of his goals was to dunk on someone and he finally got his wish with the fastbreak flush over Kyle Singler. However, the Pistons held the early lead, 37-33 after one quarter of play. After the game, a Washington State University alum posted the video on YouTube hilariously set to audio of a pro wrestling match. Singler tumbling past the endline backwards, with just his legs showing was akin to being “broken in half”.
On Instagram, someone sitting next to Marreese Speights posted a courtside action picture of Jermaine O’Neal. The Warriors took a 63-62 lead into halftime, but it quickly devolved into a 75-77 deficit with 2:23 remaining in the third quarter. Stephen Curry had collected 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists up until this point.
At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Pistons took the lead, 83-81. A courtside clip of O’Neal hitting a post up bucket was posted on Instagram, from a member of #DubNation in Detroit. Late in the 4th quarter, the Warriors finally took the lead, 97-94, with 5:40 remaining. Stephen Curry had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists by then.
The Warriors closed out the game, 104-96. Curry ended up with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, while O’Neal added another double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds. Klay Thompson chipped in 19.
POST-GAME
After the game, Warriors head coach Mark Jackson praised Jordan Crawford coming off the bench, saying he passed up an open shot to get Harrison Barnes going. Meanwhile, O’Neal explained, “You’re gonna have to win ugly games.”
Green said after the game, “We didn’t have much energy tonight as a team, but our not having much energy now and not having much energy a month ago, we would’ve lost by twenty.”
