andre iguodala injury report

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was late to his usual 5:45PM pre-game press conference and when he arrived, he had some bad news to deliver:

“Before we get started,” Jackson said, “Andre Iguodala will be out a minimum of three games. Right knee tendonitis. We’ll go (forward) as treatment, rehab, rest and we’ll act accordingly after that. Also, Bogues (Andrew Bogut) won’t play tonight. Tweaked his ankle last game. It’s important for him to get, obviously, rest and treatment and hopefully we’ll get these guys healthy and whole soon.”

Iguodala will miss his 12th game of the 2013-14 campaign. Earlier this season, he was out with a strained right hamstring.

Iguodala was the first to report his knee tendinitis after last Friday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers:

“Something I’ve had to deal with from as early as college,” Iguodala said, “You get variations of it, know how to deal with it, play with it and you try to be safe with it sometimes.”

“He’s been dealing with it for a little while,” Jackson added at the press conference, “I can’t give the exact answer, but it’s been bothering him. We talked about him not playing at a 100%. He’s a gamer, even in the last game…when he didn’t go back in the first half, it was due to that and then our last game, it was a question of — you know, he’s a gamer, so he was in uniform, he wanted to go.

But right now the right thing to do is shut him down for three games and allow his body to heal, recover and get the proper treatment and we’ll go from there.”

Bogut will miss his eighth game of the season.

Bogut was supposed to be available at morning shootaround for interviews with media. Injured players usually are not allowed to speak to media:

“We’ll go day to day,” Jackson said at the presser of Bogut, “He went through shootaround this morning, wasn’t 100% and didn’t feel 100%. It’s important to make sure he’s right.”
