USA Basketball 2014: #SplashBrothers Klay Thompson And Stephen Curry Engage DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, And Kenneth Faried In 3-Point Shooting Contest (Photo: @letsgowarriors Instagram account)
MENDENHALL CENTER, LAS VEGAS, NV — After practice and scrimmages were overwith on Day One of the 2014 USA Men’s Basketball National Team (#USABMNT) training camp, Stephen Curry was busy with his own shooting routine on the near court — making a bevy of three-pointers for 38 seconds in a row at one point — but it wasn’t long before Klay Thompson urged Curry to come over to the far court and engage in a little shooting contest with Gordon Hayward, DeMarcus Cousins, and, later, Kenneth Faried.
Various accounts had Thompson winning the contest, although for the majority of the session, the players were barking out the number of shots that they, combined, had made in a row. At one point, the group got up to 15 in a row before Cousins clanged one off the back iron.
“I’m just letting it be known,” Cousins told reporters after the contest, “I’m now one of the #SplashBrothers.”
Another reporter had Cousins in third place, ahead of Hayward but behind Curry with Thompson the winner.
