MENDENHALL CENTER, LAS VEGAS, NV — Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson is always up for a 3-point challenge and, a day after corraling Stephen Curry to play in a group shootout against DeMarcus Cousins and Gordon Hayward — which Thompson won, by the way — Thompson sought out one of the best other spot-up shooters in the world: Kyle Korver.

The two went at it, shooting five shots apiece from the standard five stations, baseline-wing-top-wing-baseline, plus two more after that.

Along the way, Curry started his own catch-dribble-shoot drills, so the court they were on soon became a sensory overload of the world’s greatest shooters:

Here’s as much video as could be recorded during the fray:

With the rest of the USA Basketball Men’s National Team (#USABMNT) all scattered about with media interviewing all coaches and players in sight, things became quite the basketball circus, to say the least.

Eventually as things settled down, LetsGoWarriors caught up with Korver, who gave the “thumbs up” sign when asked who had won the contest.

Thompson later confirmed.

“Man,” the competitive Thompson said, shaking his head, “He beat me four out of seven spots.

“You can only miss one shot, maybe two (against Korver),” Thompson added, “but I love shooting with Kyle — or Steph. There’s not many guys I think can shoot better than me. It just gets me better.”

Thompson vowed there would be more three-point contests coming up as training camp continues.
