End of Summer recruiting

Compass

This has been an eventful summer for Penn State and the nation as a whole in recruiting. With school approaching, many recruits are ready to make a few more visits and then decide. Here’s everything you need to know from now till September 1st.

Andrew Pryts- The 4 star safety from Hermitage, Pa (Hickory high school) took a visit to State College on the 8th, and soon after that visit, Penn State has emerged as the favorite for Pryts, who’s father played for the Nittany Lions. The biggest competitor is Ohio State, he is set to decide before the end of summer.

Brendan Ferns- The 4 star linebacker is one of the best in the nation. He lives in Ohio, so many people expected him to go to OSU, but an academic issue changed that. The major Ferns is interested in is not provided by Ohio state, but two neighboring schools have great programs in that field( which is an engineering program on fracking) they are West Virgina and PennState. The two had been neck and neck for awhile, but WVU has seemed to pull ahead. He will decide before August 28th.

Tre Nixon- The speedy wide out has a top two of Georgia and PSU. The two are locked in tight in this one. Nixon wants to play as soon as possible, which he says is more likely to happen at Penn State, but Georgia is close to home (he’s from Florida) and he likes the idea of playing with Jacob Eason, the 5 star QB who is committed to the Dawgs. Don’t expect a decision soon from him, he plans on having official visits*.

2017- Penn State is drawing heavy interest from many 2017 recruits, but don’t expect any of them to commit any time soon.

*offical visit- An offical visit is when a recruit has entered his senior year of high school and plans visits to schools. The visits are usually to attend games, usually the team’s biggest game of the year. The NCAA only allows a recruit to go on 5 official visits, because the school that is hosting him pays for meals for the recruit and his family and provides them with field passes to the game.
