Warriors Trade Rumors: Stephen Curry On Kevin Love As A Teammate: “It’s A Waste Of Thoughts” (Photo: @letsgowarriors Instagram account)
At Team USA practice Wednesday, Stephen Curry said he believed the Golden State Warriors would stand pat on any big roster shake-ups going into next season, including dealing for Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love.
“I know most of what’s going on but I think right now we’re pretty set on our roster and trying build on what we did last year,” Curry said.
Curry did, however, acknowledge that speculation on the inclusion of Harrison Barnes, David Lee and Klay Thompson isn’t likely to end any time soon.
“Those talks probably will still be going on while we’re playing here and even while we’re overseas before training camp,” Curry said. “But at this point I expect the same team to be back.”
Steph said trade rumors trade rumors like the ones involving Love aren’t unusual, especially for a team trying to take the next step in their development.
“We’re an organization now, that is deemed to be on the up and up and a great place to play, somewhere that’s enticing to free agents,” Curry said. “Every team is trying to get better over the summer, and they explore different options.”
There was a chance that the Curry would have an opportunity to play with Love in Spain with Team USA, but the Timberwolves’ power forward dropped out of the FIBA World Championships last week.
Curry said he’s thought a little about what it would be like, but he hadn’t given it any extensive consideration.
“I know what kind of pick and roll game we probably could have had, this and that, but it’s a waste of thoughts if nothing happens so I don’t really think about it,” Curry said.
The Warriors’ point guard thinks the trade rumors show how much value and talent the Warriors already have on their roster.
“It’s a good thing that guys are wanted around the league and those conversations are happening,” Curry said. “But there’s a reason that we haven’t made the trade.”
Curry said he’s excited to come to camp with the same guys as last season.
“We were a great team last year. We took the Clippers to Game 7, on the road, to the last two minutes, and weren’t 100 percent,” Curry said. “So hopefully we can be healthy and be a better team next year.”
