Klay Thompson Trade Rumors: “It Doesn’t Bother Me” (Photo: via SportsWorldReport)
The Golden State Warriors trade rumors have died down a bit and it seems supporters of the #KeepKlay have won the battle, at least for now. After seemingly being shopped around as a possible trade piece for the Warriors to acquire Kevin Love, some might wonder how Klay Thompson is dealing with the distraction.
“It’s all good, man. It’s part of the business. It doesn’t bother me.” Klay told LetsGoWarriors.com after practice with Team USA in Las Vegas, “It was shocking, but at the end of the day it’s a business. I know Steve Kerr is going to do big things in Golden State. The guy’s a champion, a winner, and I’m excited to work for him.”
Kerr has made it clear to the Warriors front office that he wants to coach Klay this year. Whether you were for #KeepKlay or #GetLove, the thought of having one of the greatest NBA shooters of all time coaching one of the best shooters in the league today should be an exciting thought.
“(I) got to speak to (Kerr) a few times already, and he seems to love my game and he said he’s excited to coach me,” Thompson said, “That pumps me up and I’m excited to get to work, man. Season can’t come any quicker.”
Not only does the Warriors staff have confidence in Thompson, but also everyone around Team USA is a big supporter as well. Team USA’s managing director, Jerry Colangelo, told LetsGoWarriors “He would have to be one of the top two or three shooters on this roster.” (Full article with quotes can be found here.)
That’s high praise from a man who will have a lot to do with who makes the final twelve-man roster that will head to Spain.
Whether or not Thompson gets to suit up for the red, white and blue, it seems more likely that we can expect to see him in the Warriors blue and gold when training camp rolls around.
For the Warriors fans who have made it known that they want to #KeepKlay, the man himself has noticed the fan support.
“I appreciate it. We really do have the best fans in the NBA. Oracle is a special place to play.”
