Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the rest of USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team (#USABMNT) is in New York City right now awaiting their next exhibition game against the Dominican Republic national team.
LetsGoWarriors will be at press row to cover the game for you, as well as the livetweet (#LetsGoWarriorsLive).
The game will be aired on NBA TV as the teams meet in the historic venue of Madison Square Garden on Wednesday at 7:00PM EDT (4:00PM PDT).
Last Saturday, the Warriors faced off against Brazil in an exhibition game that was held at the United Center in Chicago.
Anthony Davis led the team with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks in 26 minutes played.
Curry got it going early with a couple of spectacular shots, finishing with 9 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 22 minutes. Thompson was the fourth highest scorer, contributing 10 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 25 minutes.
Team USA’s roster currently stands at 16 players, and only the final 12 will make the trip to Spain to take part in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
In addition to Curry and Thompson, this year’s roster includes Damian Lillard, Derrick Rose, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, DeMar DeRozan, Gordon Hayward, Kyle Korver, Chandler Parsons, Rudy Gay, Kenneth Faried, Anthony Davis, Mason Plumlee, Andre Drummond, and DeMarcus Cousins.
The team lost Paul George to injury when they conducted their first intrasquad scrimmage in Las Vegas, and Kevin Durant recently withdrew from the team following the George injury. The notion is that Team USA will play small, and both Curry and Thompson are expected to make the final roster.
Although there hasn’t been any news as to whether Team USA has conducted any cuts following their last exhibition game, it’s notable to mention that Cousins, Drummond, Hayward and DeRozan didn’t play any minutes last time out.
If not cut by Wednesday’s game, it’s expected that USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski will allow them minutes against the Dominican Republic.
