The FIBA Basketball World Cup is soon to begin, and USA Basketball Men’s National Team (#USABMNT) is in Spain for their final exhibition match against Slovenia.
The game will take place on Tuesday at Gran Canaria Arena in the city of Las Palmas on the beautiful Canary Islands (Spain).
It will be televised on ESPN2 at 2:00PM EDT (11:00AM PDT).
LetsGoWarriors.com will be livetweeting the game using the hashtag #LetsGoWarriorsLive.
Last Friday, Stephen Curry led Team USA with 20 points in a 112-86 victory against Puerto Rico. He finished adding in 1 rebound and 4 assists on 6-for-7 shooting from the field and 4-for-5 shooting from behind the arc.
In three starts for Team USA, Curry has averaged 12.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists on roughly 59 percent shooting from the field, 58 percent from behind the arc.
As for the other half of the #SplashBrothers, Klay Thompson contributed 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks on 4-for-12 shooting from the field in Team USA’s win over Puerto Rico.
Thompson’s ability to shoot and defend at a high level made him one of head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s favorites to make the final 12-man roster. He continues to be one of the more consistent scorers off the bench, averaging 11 points per contest. He also averages 2.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 blocks playing in all three exhibition games thus far.
The Slovenian national team is coming off a 74-72 exhibition win against the Lithuania. The lone NBA player on Slovenia is Phoenix Suns point guard, Goran Dragic, who put up All-Star caliber numbers as his team fell only a couple games short of the postseason.
He had 10 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists on 5-for-10 shooting against Lithuania.
While the Slovenians likely do not stand a chance against USA Basketball, Dragic – or the Dragon, as some like to call him – has become one of the more underrated point guards in the league. He averaged 20.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists last season, helping the Suns achieve a winning record of 48-34.
Seeing two dynamic scorers in Dragic and Curry battle it out in the backcourt will be a sight to see come game time.
