Kevin Durant Under Armour Rumors: Stephen Curry Says “I Saw Him Eyeballing My Shoes” (Photo: @letsgowarriors Instagram account)
In recent weeks, word has come out that last season’s NBA MVP Kevin Durant might be making a shoe switch for next season. #UnderArmour (“UA”) has reportedly offered Durant a 10-year, $285 million offer to sign with them because his Nike contract will be expiring.
A few years ago, a superstar such as Durant would have never signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour. Until recently, UA was thought of as a second or even third tier shoe brand, with Nike having the most popularity in that department
There is one player who has helped solidify UA’s credibility: the Golden State Warriors‘ own Stephen Curry. Curry signed with the brand before last season and with his recent rise to NBA superstardom, the brand’s image has followed.
Curry appeared on the Doug Gottlieb Show a couple of weeks back and spoke about the possibility of Durant joining the Under Armour team.
“I’ve been joking about this all week; Every time he and I were out there on the court I saw him eyeballing my shoes, but I didn’t know why. I don’t know where they stand,” Curry said on the show, “I’m sure Under Armour is going to make a play for him.
“We know what he would bring to the table as an endorser of the company and the rest of the brand. We’re about our business and we’re on the rise so who knows. I think it’d be a great move for him hopefully he’s listening I’m pitching to him right now.”
