Most NBA analysts said it was an easy decision for the Golden State Warriors to part ways with him in exchange for Love. The Warriors thought differently, wanting to stick with their player and help cultivate him into one of the top shooting guards in the league.
He was a long-shot to be on the final twelve-man roster going into the World Cup. Thompson not only impressed the coaches of USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team, but he played a vital role as the Sixth Man for Team USA.
